The CMA Vista Rising Star For 1991
To Perform at The 2024 Opry North Country Music Festival in June

ASSouthMountainNovember2023.jpgSouth Mountain was originally an Ottawa Valley based group;

they have undergone several personnel changes since original grouping.

They released their debut album in 1989.

South Mountain created sufficient impact to capture the Canadian

Country Music Association's coveted Vista Rising Star Award honors

as top new artist of 1991.

They have since recorded several albums showcasing the talents of the

different personnel changes.

Their impressive career has led to countless exciting musical opportunities.

They have performed with country icons such as Dolly Parton,

Charlie Pride, Vince Gill, Tammy Wynett, Conway Twitty, Kitty Wells and

many others.

They have received many awards and nominations overseas as well, The

original group was inducted into the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall

of Fame in 2020.

They have toured extensively at home in Canada and internationally in

Europe and Scandinavia.

Here are the Band members as of 2023:

*Steve Piticco from Toronto, lead guitar & vocals. He won awards

such as guitar player of the year and instrumentalist on numerous occasions.

*Kurk Bernard from PEI, lead vocals & base guitar. Kurk has been

performing with South Mountain for over 15 years.

*Ken Post plays drums & vocals. Ken has an extensive list of

performances and tours and his recordings are endless with many country

artists.

*Scott Woods from Fergus, Ontario is the bands fiddler. Scott plays several

instruments and is a multiple winner of the Canadian Open Fiddle Contest,

the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championships and a Canadian Fiddle

Entertainer of the year for 7 years and tours extensively in Canada. In 2018

he won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Grand Masters

Fiddling Association, for his extensive contribution to the preservation of

Canadian Fiddle Music.
