Matt Andersen, is a 30 year old Blues singer/songwriter/guitarist from Perth-Andover, New Brunswick now living in Cape Breton. Matt has just received 5 ECMA 2012 nominations for: Entertainer-Video-Blues Recording-Album-Solo Recording of the Year. Earlier this past month, he won 3 Maple Blue Awards for: Entertainer-Male Vocalist and Acoustic Act of the Year.


Matt started performing music at a young age and played tuba and trumpet in school. Later at 14, he started playing classic rock, top 40 covers in pubs. He worked at McCains frozen food factory in Florenceville, N.B. making Pizza Pockets until 2002. While He studying engineering, he discovered Blues and the rest is history. Matt says he felt its honesty in blues Music.

He began to build his name on the Canadian music circuit with his outstanding voice and slashing side guitar, making quite an impression on his audience. He released his debut album in 2007 entitled SECOND TIME AROUND-in 2008 he released SOMETHING IN BETWEEN-in 2009 he released PIGGY BACK and in 2011 he released COAL MINING BLUES which earned him 4 ECMA nominations. Other released albums were Spirit of Christmas, Matt Andersen Live At The Phoenix, Matt Andersen and Mike Stevens.

He shared the stage with Randy Bachman, Bo Diddley, Little Feat, April Wine, America, Lover Boy and several others. He usually performs 200 shows a year, travelling to France, Holland, Italy, Canada, USA and the Czeck Republic.He performed at the 50th Anniversary of Mariposa Fesival in 2010 after performing there in 2007.He has won several ECMA Awards over the years and performed in many Festivals. In 2010, he was the first Canadian to win Memphis famed international Blues Challenge competing with 80 acts from around the world.. It has being said by many people, that Matt Anderson is Canada`s Greatest Guitarist.
