ASBluegrassDiamondsProfileShotColorii.gif The Bluegrass Diamonds, the popular bluegrass band from New Brunswick , Canada have been nominated for Bluegrass Group of the Year for the 2002 East Coast Music Awards to be held in St. John, N.B. on February 3rd. They will also perform on the televised awards show as well. The band was formed in 1995 and called themselves the Blue Diamonds. Since forming, the band never looked back, playing 65 to 70 dates a year. In the 1996, the band took home the most promising new band of the year at the East Coast Bluegrass awards show, and band member Louis Arsenault took home the Mandolin player of the year. In 1997 they took home several awards including Band of the Year at the East Coast Bluegrass Music awards. The years followed till present, where the band and band members have won several nominations and awards at the East Coast Bluegrass Music Awards.

Over the years, the band appeared on CBC, on several radio shows and N.S. Live. They have shared the stage with the likes of Mac Wiseman, Del McCoury, Lonesome River Band, Claire Linch, Rhonda Vincent, Ramblers Choice and many more.

Meet the Band Members: Francis Cormier (guitar, lead, harmony)-Louis Arsenault (mandolin, harmony)-Roger Gauvin (banjo)-Vincent Cormier (bass tenor, lead, harmony). Francis and Vincent are brothers who were born in Memramcook, N.B. Vincent is so talented, that he sings bluegrass in the French language. He won several nominations & awards over the years. Francis meanwhile, is a very talented song writer and noticed by many in the music industry. He as well won many awards and does the emcee work for the band. Louis born in St Paul, N.B. influenced by his mother in music, is said by many that he is responsible as anyone, for bringing the authentic sound of bluegrass music to New Brunswick and the Maritimes. He as well, won many awards and received many nominations. Roger born in Moncton, New Brunswick, was the recipient of the Banjo player of the Year, award at the 1998 Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards Show. He played with several bands like the others over the years and won many awards.

The band is very serious about their music, and as a result produced a wonderful CD, entitled, Bluegrass Diamonds-Some Of Our Favorites, Hopefully Yours, of which the Band received an ECMA 2002 nomination. Forfurther information regarding the band and their music, check their above website
