In the early 80�s, she entered talent contests gaining recognition and winning respect from her peers. In 1987 she won the *favorite overall performer* at the Annual Summerside Lobster Carnival Talent Search. This award was voted on by her fellow contestants, and meant a lot to Janet. She then teamed up with Charlie Hansen, and for a number of years, they performed the music circuit all over P.E.I.
One summer, she attended a local Bluegrass Festival, and immediately fell in love with the music. She then became a regular performer at the annual P.E.I. Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival since 1995 with the popular band, Wind River. By request of her fans, she released a CD, entitled, My Heart Is A Diamond, and as a result, got much air-play and was nominated at ECMA 2001 for Bluegrass Artist of the Year. In spring 2001, she went back to the studio to record her second CD entitled, Hills of Home.With its release, her music has gained considerable international exposure and received an ECMA 2002 Bluegrass Artist nomination. Janet says, music is her passion and maintains a day job as well which she enjoys.
To date Janet released 8 CD's namely: Love and Learn-My Dixie Darling-He Will Bring You Home-Christmas By The Fireside-Looking Towards Sunrise-My Heart is A Diamond-Hills of Home and Just Passing Thru.Janet had been a regular performer on the local bluegrass circuit with her band Wind River. In October 2006, band member changes were made with Serge Bernard on banjo-Roxeen Roberts on bass and Ryan Roberts on guitar.
In 2009, Janet became the first Canadian Member of the Daughters of Bluegrass and appears on the CD Vol III Bluegrass Bouquet, as well performed with the Daughters at SPBGMA in Nashville.
In 2009 more changes were made in the Band. Roxeen and Ryan moved to Nashville, Ten. to persue their careers. Janet added two replacement members, Naomi Doncaster from Sackville, N.B. and Kyle Legere from Amherst, Nova Scotia.

UPDATE AS OF SEPTEMBER 2013:Janet released in 2012 her 10th album entitled WILDWOOD ROSE. Review to follow shortly on this site.Recently in 2012 Janet added 2 new members to her band, Eddy Cormier and Bryan Poirier. They replaced Naomi Doncaster and Kyle Legere.
