The Masterless Men, a favorite Newfoundland Band from St. John's, had their audiences spellbound with their unbelievable showcases around ECMA 2001 in early February. The band formed in 1991, emerged on the music scene from Southern > Newfoundland, inspired by their forefathers. The band is led by John Curran of Ferryland. John has touched the hearts of many with his fine song writing, multi-talented musicianship, and his extremely gifted tenor voice, known for delivering the sweetest of ballads and rich traditional Irish songs. Chuck Lewis, the band's member can lend his powerful voice to a masterful rousing hand-clapping, toe-tapping song; a moment later, he can deliver a love song with tenderness and emotion. Dave Lush's fiery, Celtic bluegrass banjo virtuosity is stunning, and his wry wit belies his other proficiencies as a drummer, keyboardist, harmonica player, and background singer. Perry Dawe's mandolin magic exemplifies his mastering of the stringed instruments. His tremendous bass-baritone voice adds so much to the groups superb vocal harmonies. Bob Wiseman, a journeyman musician, surrounds the group's sound and brings it all to one with his Fender jazz bass, while adding his soft harmony vocals to what is now complete. Together, The Masterless Men deliver a highly unusual and unique fusion of songs and music combining original, Celtic, bluegrass, folk and popular musical elements...with passion, precision and professionalism.

Greg Walsh, an accomplished musician officially joined te band in 2007. He travelled previously with the band from 2003-007. He was raised in Bay de Verte, NL. He plays fiddle, mandolin, guitar, tenor banjo, piano, accordion and bozouki.

The Band released their 3rd CD in August of 2000, entitled, Back On Track. Their other two CDs are entitled, Breaking New Ground and Ode To Age. Their new CD is a brilliant production with masterful ins'umentation and perfectly synchronized vocal harmonies is indeed a pleasure to listen to. They now plan to perform at the larger Canadian and US festivals, produce their video, record their fourth album and undertake a tour of the British Isles.

The group have been featured on several radio and television programs and have performed at premiere festivals and concerts to sell-out audiences throughout Atlantic Canada, New England and south to Florida. They have received numerous critical reviews and have appeared with such musical legends as Tommy Makem, Liam Clancy, Foster and Allen, and other internationally known artists.

The Masterless Men have released 7 CD's since their beginning. Here are the titles: Ode To Age-Breaking New Ground-Back On Track-On The Run-Christmas With The Masterless Men-Bramble and The Rose and their recent CD 20 Years.
