It was deep sadness hearing the sad news regarding the passing away of Fred White from Brampton, Ontario on April 15, 2026 at age 84, the last living member of the Famous Canadian Band, The Carlton Showband.

The Carlton Showband was formed in Brampton, Ontario in 1963 and continued to perform for 35 years (1964-1996).

The band had a CTV Show called Pig & Whistle for 10 years,(1967-1977) and was the highest rating show in the CTV collection.

The band recorded 27 albums and had 19 singles on radio.

Fred was a very important member of the band, who played banjo and sang.

After the original Carlton Showband disbanded in 1996, however some of the band members decided to continue adding some new members including Fred, and continued to perform for a number of years.

The band including all members from the two groups celebrated 50 years performing in 2013.
