Rosie MacKenzie, fiddler, and former member of the world-famous, The Cottars from Cape Breton, has just released her newest CD entitled, Atlantic in October 2016.

Rosie has been playing fiddle professionally for most of her life. She rose to fame with The Cottars at age 11 in which they recorded 3 full-length albums and shared the stage with The Chieftains, Elviis Costello, Natalie MacMaster and John McDermott.

Rosie has been busy over the years, teaching music after leaving The Cottars and for the past 3 years worked on sailboats at sea, crossing the Atlantic twice. Rosie was stewardess, chief and deckhand on the two Arlantic crossings. During this time she was inspired by the sea and began writing melodies for her debut album. It was during this time, she contacted Matt Griffin from Dingle, Ireland to record the album. The result became the project of producing this fine album, Atlantic, a collection of original compositions that were written by Rosie mostly while at sea.

Here are the titles of the 9 composition tracks:

The Beginnings - The Hunter - The Roses Grow - The Wedding Sunrise - The Girls of Panthalassa - Ron John's - Shannon McNeil's Waltz - Watty's Farewell - Wilding

The musicians on the CD were: Rosie MacKenzie, Fiddle/Lead Vocals - Matt Griffin, Guitars/Bouzouki/bass - Riona O'Madagain, harmony vocals - Niamh Varian-Barry - Viola/violin - Martin Leahy, drums - Pauline Scanlon, harmony vocals - Eamon Murray, drums/bodhran/percussion

The CD was produced by Donogh Hennessy and Rosie MacKenzie and recorded at Studio MHIC AN DAILL in Dingle, Ireland.

The CD is certainly a gem and a joy to listen to and is a welcome addition to all music lovers of fiddle music. Atlantic Seabreeze gives the album a full 5 start rating out of 5 stars.
