Eleanor McCain, singer and recording artist born and raised in Florenceville, N.B. now living in Toronto, has released her fourth album in December 2011, entitled Holiday (Christmas), and has just received an ECMA 2013 Award Nomination in the Gospel Recording of the Year Category.

The CD, Holiday, is a 2-disc CD of 19 songs that offers holiday songs that fall into two collections creating two distinct sentiments-a Naughty side of u-tempo and jazzy seccuar selections and a Nice side of intimate and traditional hyms and carols. All songs on the CD's are cover songs of traditional Christmas music. Eleanor chose to do a Christmas album because of her own family's love of Christmas, and the fact she felt it felt well with her classical crossover style.

Thr two-disc package contains recordings of 19 familiar and classic holiday tracks. The first CD is labeled Naughty and here are the song titles:

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen-What Are you Doing New Year's Eve?-Let There Be Peace On Earth (a duet with her daughter, Laura)-Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas-The First Noel (a duet with Cindy Townsend)-The Christmas Song-Mary Did You Know?-White Christmas

The second CD is labeled, Nice and here are the song titles:

Once In Royal David's City-I Wonder As I Wander-What is This Lovely Fragrance?-Silent Night-O Holy Night-Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming-In The Bleak Mid-Winter-The Huron Carol-Away In A Manger-Amazing Grace

Eleanor is a conservatory trained soprano, and in this amazing Christmas album, Holiday, she shines and manages what a few sopranos can do-sings carols and standards with a purity and control that elevates her to that rare breeds of trained singers who can perform crossover material and do it right.

The album features The Elmer Iseler Singers and was produced by Halifax native, Brigham Phillips and many musicians helped Eleanor with the music on the album project namely; Brigham Phillips, Rob Pilch, Jason Flower, Pat Kilbride, Mark Kelso, Bob De Angelis, Les Allt, Jenny Thompson, Wendy Rose, Claudio Vena, John Marshman, Lesley Young, James MacDonald, Shawn Grenke, Erica Goodman.

A remarkable, beautiful album for the Christmas season and Eleanor does an outstanding job singing says Atlantic Seabreeze. We rate this album a five star plus rating out of 5 stars.
