1ST Annual ROCK FOR THE KIDS Fundraiser Set for The Guild Saturday Night!
Seven local bands have come together to stage the first annual “Rock For The Kids” fundraiser at the Guild in Charlottetown on Saturday night, December 2nd.
The doors will open at 8:30 pm. Music will get underway at 9:15 pm due to the lengthy lineup. This will be a 19 and over event. Admission is $5 at the door.
Proceeds will go to the Toys For Tots program. “It’s really special as a musician to be able to give something back to the community at this time of the year especially for the kids!” says Pat Deighan, one of the organizers of what he hopes will become an annual event.
Appearing at the show on Saturday night will be PEI Music Award winners Fugato, along with nominees Out From Under. Also appearing will be Pat Deighan & The Orb Weavers, Stride, Royal Rifles, Anna Pilla and Boxer The Horse.
“All kids deserve a great Christmas and we know that may not happen for some, adds Lloyd Doyle of Sandbar Music, another organizer for the event. “So we want to do our part through this event. If we can help just one child or family have their Christmas wishes come true it’s all good” he adds.
As for the bands who have agreed to play the inaugural event, Fugato is getting set to release their first full length album as a follow up to their successful EP Grass Radio in early 2007. Out From Under are getting a great response from college radio along with positive reviews for their album Unindustrious. Pat Deighan & The Orb Weavers will be heading into Shell Lane Studios in December to record a new record for release early in 2007. New releases from Anna Pilla and Boxer The Horse are also in the pipeline. Stride released their first CD on Halloweeen night.
“We have a number of bands that are moving forward with new product already released or soon to be released which helps to make this an interesting show for music fans from a performance point of view “,adds Pat Deighan.
“Come on out, enjoy the music and support a worthwhile cause!”
