Aaron Pritchett Top Nominee
at Canadian Country Music Awards
Nominated for 6 CCMAs!August 2nd, 2006 – Aaron Pritchett is having a great birthday! It was announced today that the B.C. artist has been nominated for 6 awards at the 19th Annual Canadian Country Music Awards, making him the top-nominated performer. Pritchett (pronounced Prit-chett) is nominated for Single of the Year (for “Big Wheel”), Album of the Year (for Big Wheel), SOCAN Songwriter of the Year (for “Big Wheel”), Male Artist of the Year, Independent Male Artist of the Year and Independent Single of the Year (for “Big Wheel”).
Pritchett’s longtime friend, manager and guitar player, Mitch Merrett, also received CCMA nominations for Manager of the Year and Guitar Player of the Year, as well as garnering a co-nomination for Record Producer of the Year for his work with Tom McKillip on Big Wheel. Pritchett, who is currently on a headlining tour of Eastern Canada, recently finished up a run of dates opening for country music superstars Brooks & Dunn. His current single, “Hold My Beer (While I Kiss Your Girlfriend)” is heating up the country music charts and the video is in heavy rotation at CMT Canada.
“This is unexpected and unbelievable – it’s the most incredible feeling that I’ve ever had and I’m so honoured and grateful to have been nominated. I’m so proud to be a Canadian country artist,” said Pritchett.
With the release of his third album, Big Wheel (distributed exclusively by Fusion III in Canada) on April 18th, Pritchett set the wheels in motion for an amazing twelve months. He co-hosted CMT Central on July 17th as part of a special episode with The Toronto Blue Jays and has spent his summer opening for Nashville acts Alan Jackson and Big & Rich, as well as headlining his own shows. He is looking forward to being in Saint John, NB on September 11th when the awards will be presented live across Canada on CBC Television at 8pm (8:30NT). Encore airings of the CCMA Awards will be broadcast on CMT Canada, in the U.S. on Great American Country (GAC) and in Australia on Country Music Channel (CMC).
Nominated for 5 Canadian Country Music Awards in 2004, Pritchett walked away with Independent Male Artist and Independent Song of the Year for “New Frontier.” FACTOR also presented him with Breakthrough Artist of the Year at that year’s Canadian Music Week in Toronto. In 2005 he was nominated for 3 Canadian Country Music awards and was again crowned Independent Male Artist. He was also a presenter on the televised show that year. In addition, he swept the last two B.C. Country Music Association Awards, taking home prizes for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year (for “Lucky For Me,”) and SOCAN Songwriter of the Year (for “Lucky For Me”).
