Kurk lived in Hamilton, Ontario for a number of years and recently moved to PEI with his family, his wife and 5 children including a set of twins. In Ontario, he was bass guitarist and vocalist for the country band, Blind River and still performs from time to time with the band. The very popular band consists of Kevin Bushey, Kurk Bernard and Steve Petrie.
Kurk also performs with the sensational South Mountain Band in Ontario from time to time. This band comprises of Steve Piticco, Tyler Beckett, Jay Riel and Kurk Bernard.
A few years ago, Kurk had the recording opportunity with the late great legendary Merle Haggard. He also toured with greats such as John Landry, South Mountain and John Cody Carter just to name a few. Playing and touring all his life, this naturally gifted singer/musician knows one thing - and knows it very well-and that's how to entertain an audience.
Now living in PEI, Kurk continues his music, and is in constant demand to perform in night clubs, benefits, Chase The Ace in his hometown and many other events.
In 2010, Kurk suffered a setback with a major operation for a brain tumor near his brain, and recovered very successfully. A huge benefit was held on April 26/10 at Hamilton Place Theatre, where hundreds of his fans rallied together and helped to raise thousands of dollars towards Kurk's recovery. This was a true testament to the number of people Kurk has touched over the years.
In early 2016, Kurk released his debut CD entitled, Love's Gonna Live Here. The CD is a masterpiece, and Kurk is at his very best. It contains 13 songs and a bonus track, sung by his daughter Faith, entitled Daddy Come Home. The songs are all cover country songs, including, Love's Gonna Live Here, You're Still on My Mind, Way To Survive, Apr #9, Memories To Burn, Ace In The Hole and seven more. Critics call this CD, a good old fashioned Country CD, with a voice born to sing this kind of amazing music.
