The song was selected out of 79 submissions which was judged by a panel consisting of local and national music industry professionals. The Community Advisory Committee members narrowed the songs down to 10 finalists. The winner was selected by celebrity judges, Raine Maida, Chantal Kreviazuk and Lennie Gallant.
The song, Forever Strong, has the musical hook, a singable chorus, and pays tribute to the history of the Charlottetown Conference.
Ross and Bellamy are a married couple from Charlottetown and now reside in Toronto, Ontario. Ross is a well known music artist, as he was lead singer of the popular Island band, THE JIVE KINGS an ECMA Award-winning band. He was also an actor in starring roles in the Charlottetown Festival. He still acts and performs in Toronto. Nicole Bellamy is a concert pianist, vocal coach and music director who studies music at UPEI.
The couple are thrilled that their song was selected.
The song will be professionally produced and recorded and then be released to the public and will be performed at various PEI 2014 events in 2014.
