He is one of the brightest up-and-coming talents in Canadian Jazz. He does beautiful writing and his guitar playing is out of sight. Jake's tunes are a whole other thing and Grammy nominated Composer/Arranger Phil Kelly noted Hanlon's writing is fresh and exciting.

Hanlon is also a recording artist and released his ECMA 2012 nominated album in late 2010 entitled, Follow which features 8 original Jazz compositions. Music artists on his album include, Graham Richards, Piano-Ryan Hagle, upright bass and Colin Hinton, drumset.

He has performed with many award winning, internationally renowned or Grammy/Juno artists such as Tim Hagans, Vic Juris, Mike Murley, Kelly Jefferson and many others.

Jake performs as often as he can with the Saint Francis Xavier University where he is an associate lecturer.
