Canadian Country Music Legend, Carroll Baker recently bought Port Medway Baptist Church in the town where she grew up in Port Medway, Nova Scotia.

Carroll was born in Bridgewater but moved to Ontario when she was 15. She met her husband in Ontario and have been married for 52 years and reside in Guelph, Ontario.

The church was consecrated in 1872 (148 years ago) but went up for sale seven months ago following the loss of its pastor.

Carroll has fond memories about the church as she made her debut on stage in the church at a Christmas concert. She attended Sunday School there along with weddings and funerals.

The memories are very strong of the church and are of a spiritual nature.

The church reportedly is generally sound structurally and Carroll plans a few additions.

She hopes the community will accept the church as their as their building and that the community, fans, family and friends will be a part of keeping the building useable.

She plans to basically keep the building as a church that will allow for weddings and funerals to be held.
