Randy Scruggs Passes Away in Nashville at Age 64

ASRandyScruggsGuitaristandproducerpassedawayApril172018.jpgASRandyScrugsSonofEarlDiesat64April172018.jpgThe Music Industry in Nashville was shocked to hear that Randy Scruggs, passed away in Nashville on April 17, 2018 at age 64. He was the son of banjo innovator Earl Scruggs.

Randy was a guitarist, producer, songwriter and studio owner.

He was CMA Musician of the Year in 1999, 2003 and 2006 and won 4 Grammy's for his instrumental work.

He produced many music artists such as, Waylon Jennings, Dwight Yoakam, Loretta Lynn, Alison Krauss, Toby Keith, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and many more.

During the 1980 and 1990's, 100 of his songs were recorded by major artists. He was in demand for musician sessions and played on hundreds of Nashville recording sessions and earned accolades for a number of hits.

Two of the projects he produced was, Will The Circle Be Unbroken Vol 2 and Alison Krauss & Union Station version of, You Say Nothing At All, won CMA Awards for Album of the Year and Single of the Year respectively.

He recently sold his studio, Scruggs Sound Studio to Canadian singer/songwriter Johnny Reid.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, a daughter Lindsey and brother Gary.

A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
