AL Bruno Legend Guitarist Passes Away Aug 2015

Al Bruno, legendary guitar player, born in Sudbury, Ontario passed away on August 21 in Pensacola, Florida at the age of 78.

Many Canadians are not to familiar with Al, but his whole musical life speaks for itself. He first started playing guitar at age 5 and never looked back

Here are some of his life highlites, with far to many to mention here:

1) Toured with Conway Twitty for 4 1/2 years in the 50's when Conway was riding high with his smash hit, It's Only Make Believe.

2) He had many working sessions with Merle Haggard, Glen Campbell, Buck Owens, Henry Mancini Orchestra and countless others.

3) His guitar work can be heard on albums for Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Johnny Paycheck, Charlie Rich and many others.

4) He played guitar on Bobbi Gentry's Ode To Billy Joe, Tayna Tucker's Delta Dawn, Charlie Rich's Behind Closed Doors and also played guitar on Lefty Frizzell's last album.

5) He worked with Dick Clark's famous TV show, American Bandstand Show.

6) He won Academy of Country Music Guitar player of the Year 10 times and at one time he was a Director of ACM.

7) Al was among the first to record an LP for Arc Records, Town and Country with Al Bruno.

8) He received a Living Legend Award by California Country Music Assoc.

9) In 2002 Al moved to Las Vegas working showroom dates.

10) He recently recorded a new instrumental album entitled, Bear Country.
