PE Island Trio, Ten Strings And A Goat Skin, included in Canadian World Music Compilation for Songlines Magazine

Canada Council for the Arts, working with Songlines Magazine UK, has chosen what they consider to be fifteen exceptional Canadian world music tracks to be included on a CD to share with new audiences worldwide and Ten Strings And A Goat Skin has made the list with its instrumental piece Kick the Crow.

Canada Council notes that together the tracks illustrate that Canada's world music scene is as unique and diverse as Canadians themselves. The artists, from all corners of the country, fuse the contemporary with the traditional – creating fresh new takes on the music of their roots. Celtic, Acadian, Indian, Jazz, Electronica, Ladino, Chinese, Bluegrass, Blues, Throat singing, Pow Wow, Reggae – all coming together in surprising and powerful ways.

Through Songlines some 20,000 copies of the CD will be distributed to music lovers and industry professionals in 65 countries with the October 2015 issue of the magazine (#111), which will be available in the UK from 28 August 2015. The CD will also be previewed in the August/September issue (#110) of Songlines. Streamed excerpts of the selected tracks will be included in the tablet edition of the magazine, which has had 100,000 downloads to date.

Having won the 2015 East Coast Music Award for World Music, the group is thrilled to have been chosen and are very excited about the exposure it will bring them internationally and possibilities that may ensue.

The group will begin the first of three European tours in mid July and will be busy well into 2016.
