Michael T Wall from Newfoundland and Labrador, has been nominated to receive the NTCMA Lifetime Achievement Award in Iowa, USA during the 40th Annual National Traditional Country/Bluegrass/Folk/Gospel Convention held at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds in LeMars, Iowa during the event August 31 - Sept 6, 2015.

Michael recently returned from a 3 month tour of Australia which was his fourth tour there. He also visited the Great Wall of China for the second time. Michael's CD release, entitled From Newfoundland to Australia is very successful thus far, and was commended for his sucessful career as a musician and the exciting opportunities that have resulted, including his tours in Australia and Poland by Darin T King, MHA, District of Grand Bank Minister, of Newfoundland an d Labrador.

Michael became a popular music artist in Toronto in 1975, known as King of The Newfies at a newly Newfoundland Club at the Molly and Me Tavern, Toronto. Michael a Corner Brook, Nfld Artist sang at this club 3 nights a week to large crowds. During this time, he released an album called, King of the Newfies, shows him wearing a crown, but his chief trademark were flashy $50 shirts with wide collars, puff sleeves and maps of Newfoundland.

To raise $800 to help fight muscular dystrophy in 1978, he auctioned his guitar picks, boots and the shirts off his back.

Michael was honoured in Australia to be the first Canadian to be in the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame. He wanted to include his guitar in the exhibition, because he was a major supporter of Australian country music in Canada. He said Australian country music reminded him of the music of Newfoundland. He said he sings about the land and people, and he will also donate a suit and hat that he wore at the Grand Ole Opry for the exhibition.
