Stompin Tom's Property with schoolhouse on bottom, left corner and homestead just back from school to right

Stompin' Tom Connors, Canada's most favourite folk legends, will be honored in Skinners, Pond PEI.

A major announcement had just been announced, that the Tignish Initatives Organization revealed major plans to honor Stompin' Tom in developing Tom's property in Skinners Pond, PEI. Tom is one of the most prolific writers and singers of country and folk songs this country has ever known.

And what a development it will be to honor such a country music Icon. At the moment, Tignish Initatives are currently awaiting responses to its applications for funding to assist with the development of its proposed tribute.

Here are the plans to date:

1) Restoration of the Skinners Pond Shoolhouse where Tom attended in his childhood

2) Restoration of Tom's homestead where he lived as a teen

3) Construction of a new building on the property for entertainment, retail and dining areas.

The property is directly situated across from the beautiful Skinner's Pond Harbour, with a road laneway, leading to the harbour named Stompin Tom Road

The target for the Grand Opening is set for Canada Day July 1, 2016.

This project will certainly be a boost for tourism in this part of the Island, a welcome relief for the area.
