Lesley Gore in The Sixties | Lesley in Recent Times |
Lesley was discovered by Quincy Jones and was signed to Mercury Records. Lesley topped the charts in the 1960's with songs such as, It's Judy's Turn To Cry, It's My Party, You Don't Know Me, Maybe I Know, Sunshine Lollypops & Rainbows and others.
Lesley had 4 consecutive top 10 hits on Billboards Hot 100 started in 1963. It's My Party was nominated for a Grammy and sold over 1 million albums. The song soared to top of the charts & hit #1. The song I'll Cry If I Want To, followed and reached #5 on the charts.
In the 90's Lesley co-wrote My Secret Love for a film, Grace of My Heart released in 1996. In 1983 she and her brother were nominated for a song, Out Here On My Own for a film entitled Fame. In 2005 she released an album, her first album in 30 years.
In college she discovered she was a Lesbian and in 2005 hosted a PBS series called, In The Life, focusing on Gay and Lesbian issues.
Lesley didn't release any singles or albums from 1982-2005. She leaves behind her mother, brother and partner.
