To record this album Jay enlisted the help of some high profile friends namely, Gordie Johnson (Big Sugar), Clayton Bellamy (The Road Hammers), Shaun Verreault (Wide Mouth Mason) and Chad Melchert(Gord Bamford).
The album contains 11 tracks and here are the titles:
Summer Girl - Radio - All The Boys Want You
It Don't Matter (featuring Clayton Bellamy) - Bound by Nothing
Everything But Today - Kansas Twister - The Wind and The Risk
Thanksgiving Night - The Butcher - The Best
Musicians who helped Jay with the recording include; Gordie Johnson, Shaun Verrault, Chad Melchert, Jeff Dick, Denis Dufresne, Craig Bignell and of course Jay with all vocals.
The Blubird album debuted at #27 on the charts. The Exclail Magazine, Nationwide Canada says, At his finest, Jay Sparrow delivers devastatingly perfect barroom country with a ragged punk rock edge.
With this all-star group assembled the sound came out just as planned: big, fun, rockin and classic. Jay has long been a fan of artist like Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Bob Seger. You can hear it in his writing. Sparrow is definitely a new voice in country music but he has that lasting reflection of the past throughout.
Atlantic Seabreeze after listening to this fine album several times , certainly gives the album 5 stars out of 5 stars on its rating list and forsees much success with nominations and awards in the future for this album.
