The CD was recorded in Nashville and Toronto and has a blend of soul, rhythm and blues, rock and country. It was a bit of a party making the CD Johnny said and he was surrounded by some of his closest co-writer friends in the business such as Thom Hardwell, Nick Trevisick and Kevin Killen.
Reid wrote many of the songs while touring and these songs were written with more sonic dept than others he wrote in the past and uses heavier drum sounds and a more electric feel.
One of the songs included is the song, Till We Meet Again, while featuring The Toronto Ontario Police Pipe Band which was a feel for Johnny's Scottish Roots. He included sounds in Rock with Let's Have A Party & Yeah Its All Right-sounds in country with You Got Me and Baby I Know It and sounds in Gospel with Walking On Water.
There are 2 different versions of Fire it Up: Version 1- T he regular CD with 12 tracks and enclosed booklet with all words to the songs. Version 2- Is a Deluxe Edition with the CD, plus 3 bonus songs, the booklet and a second DVD, The Making of Fire It Up.

The DVD, The Making of Fire It Up is really exciting to watch and done professionally and is directed and produced by Mike Peleshok.
Johnny tells us that he wanted the listener to this album to have a positive feeling about life and the world we live in. He also says, If it is love that makes the world go round, then Let’s make it go faster-Lets have a party-Lets Fire It Up.
He certainly followed this up with all the songs on the album. He does an outstanding work on this album and with his superb songwriting and singing,
Atlantic Seabreeze gives this album top ratings on its rating list. This album should reap awards for Johnny Reid in 2012/13.
