A. Frank Willis with The 2005 Newfoundland Curling Team in Edmonton, Alberta
A. Frank Willis, one of Newfoundland's top entertainers rocked The Saville Sports Center in Edmonton in March '05. The party was to honour the Newfoundland curling team who just competed in the 2005 Edmonton curling brier.
And what a Newfoundland party it was! Everyone was invited and over 200 curling fans turned up to honour the team. Fresh cod and smelts were flown in for the event from the East Coast and jam jams and coffee followed the supper. This was a true Newfoundland treat. Even some curlers from other teams turned up such as Kevin Martin and his team.
After the supper was over, the music began with legendary, A. Frank Willis formerly from Newfoundland and now based in Alberta. A. Frank's one man show, thrilled the crowd was his playing of many instruments, at the same time, and with his trademark, performing in his bare feet. Fans danced into the night with A. Frank performing many of his past hits and much new mateial from his new CD, Great Big Moose, (In The Middle of The Road).
The
true colours of Newfoundland came shining through as the
Newfoundlanders are regarded as some of the best party folk in
the country and Albertan's sure stepped into the tradition.
